Bespoke Photographic Art for Private Interiors

Bespoke Fine Art Photography & Interior Art Curation

I wanted to share with you a recent residential project where I was involved not only as a photographer, but also in the artistic direction, selection, printing and framing of the photographs.

My approach is to create a personal photographic collection that becomes an integral part of the interior, reflecting both the character of the home and the lives of the people who inhabit it.

For this particular project, the clients wanted to incorporate their horses into the decoration of their home. I also encouraged them to include personal portraits, as I believe that photographs featuring the homeowners themselves can bring something much more intimate and meaningful to a space.

Interestingly, people are often hesitant to display large portraits of themselves in their homes. My role is also to help them discover how personal photography can become a beautiful and natural part of their interior.

The creative process

Every project begins with a visit to the property.

I study the architecture, natural light, proportions, existing materials and overall atmosphere of the rooms. Together with the clients, we discuss their preferences and develop a photographic concept that works both aesthetically and personally.

For this house, we decided to work predominantly in black and white.

The neutral tones complement the natural wood, exposed beams and soft colour palette of the interior. Black-and-white photography also creates a sense of continuity between the different rooms, allowing photographs taken at different moments to become part of a coherent collection.

Over several photographic sessions, I created portraits of the family and their horses.

I then made an initial selection of images, which we reviewed together before deciding on the final photographs, their dimensions and placement throughout the house.

Printing and bespoke framing

I personally develop the framing proposals, selecting the materials, finishes, proportions and colours to complement both the photographs and the interiors.

All the photographs for this project were printed and framed in Italy, using Italian-made mouldings and working with specialised professional framers.

The photographs are printed on museum-quality archival paper, selected for its longevity, tonal richness and fine-art presentation. With appropriate archival materials and display conditions, these prints are designed to remain stable for generations.

The frames themselves are an important part of the artistic process. I consider them an extension of the photograph rather than simply a decorative accessory.

An ongoing project

This particular installation is still in progress.
We are currently waiting for two additional framed photographs: a portrait of a recently acquired horse and a large-format portrait of the homeowner riding his own horse.
Not every artwork visible in these photographs was created or framed by me. My contribution concerns the photographic works developed specifically for this project.

Beyond photography

I also work on bespoke framing projects for luxury silk scarves, particularly Hermès pieces.

For these, I collaborate with a specialist artisan in Italy who has the expertise to mount and frame delicate textiles with great care, preserving the integrity of the fabric.

This allows beautiful silk pieces to become part of an interior art collection without compromising their condition.

Working with interior designers

At the moment, my projects focus primarily on private clients and families with animals, particularly horses.

However, I would love to develop this service further in collaboration with interior designers.

I believe there is something particularly meaningful about creating artwork specifically for a home, rather than simply choosing existing decorative pieces.

It allows the interior to tell a personal story while maintaining a coherent artistic and architectural vision.

The entire process can be tailored to the project, from the initial creative concept and photography to the final selection, printing and bespoke framing.
