Concept photo-session for a couple — the process
The concept was to create a fine-art completed product that could be printed in large format. I also wanted to avoid the normal Love Story cliche, so the people in the images have to seem like actors in an old movie, which adds a little artificiality.
MOODBOARD

PREPARATION
I compiled a list of couples I saw around. I chose Jota and Agustina because they do not have faces that you would see on the street every day. I know them both personally, and they are madly in love.

I started looking for a location after that. That is a simple assignment
for me because I travel frequently. The aim was to snap photos near
water to add mystery to the final images.
Also, if you read some books,
such as Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier or The Lake by Banana Yoshimoto,
lakes are used to provide depth to the narrative and connect the main
characters' personal lives to the lakes.
So I decided to shoot at my neighbourhood wake sports club. After
consulting with management, we determined the optimal times for the club
to be empty.

SHOOTING
I chose earthy natural materials for her attire and a plain t-shirt and
pants for him. I wanted it to be as neutral as possible because the main
character of the shoot was not the clothes but the feelings.
We also added props like a boat and a few blankets to add depth to the
photos.

As previously said, I was in complete charge of the posing during the photo session in order to make it appear guided. We altered various spots to obtain different aesthetics while also improving the appearance of a particular stance. The photo session lasted one hour.
POST-PRODUCTION
This B& W postproduction reflects the mood of the photo shoot. The slightly whitened borders gave the finished image the appearance of being from another era, while the contrast between the natural surroundings and humans piqued the observer’s interest even more.
